PRIVACY
How we use the details you send us. Updated 28 October 2026.
Who we are
Martins Autos Ltd (Registered in Scotland, company no. SC651505), 4A Carsegate Road South, Inverness IV3 8LL. We decide how your details are used (the "controller" under UK data protection law). Any questions: email [email protected] or call 07724 617507.
What we collect and why
- When you send us a form (test drive, finance question, register interest, part-exchange valuation or a message): your name, phone number, email if you give it, the car you're asking about and what you write. We use them only to reply and to arrange what you asked for. This is to take steps you asked for before a possible sale, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- Part-exchange valuations: your car's registration, mileage and the photos you send. We check the registration with the DVLA and the DVSA's MOT history (make, model, colour, tax and MOT status, and the mileage recorded at each MOT) to price your car. These records are about the car, not about you.
- If you buy a car from us: your name, address, phone number and how you paid, for the sale paperwork and our accounts. The law requires us to keep accounting records.
- Visits to this website: we count which pages are viewed, without cookies. Each visitor becomes a scrambled code made from the internet address and browser; the code changes every day and can't be turned back into either. It's our legitimate interest in knowing which cars people look at.
We don't sell your details, and we don't send you marketing unless you ask us to.
Cookies
Our pages don't set any cookies. The map on our pages comes from Google Maps, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads (see Google's privacy policy). The dealer login sets one cookie, for staff only.
Who else sees your details
- Our website host, which runs this website and its database for us on a server in Europe.
- Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the website and sees the internet addresses of visitors.
- If we reply by WhatsApp, text or email, that message goes through WhatsApp (Meta), your phone network or the email provider.
- Our accountant and HMRC, for sales only.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries, valuation requests and their photos: deleted 12 months after they come in.
- Buyers' details for a sale: 6 years after the sale, for our accounts, then removed.
- Visit counts: 13 months.
